rickpicRick Mattox – General Manager
Class A PGA Professional

Rick began his career in the golf business with an assistant professional job in Lexington, North Carolina and was elected to PGA Membership in February 1975. Rick’s first Head Pro offer came in 1977 at the Carolina Golf & Country Club in Charlotte. Experience on the course and in the clubhouse supported Rick’s being hired as general manager of golf operations at The Hampton Club, St. Simons Island Georgia. In 1991 his duties were expanded to oversee our real estate development in Hampton Plantation. In 2009, Rick along with our Greens Superintendant, Chuck Moore, managed the renovation of the original Joe Lee Design by architect Billy Fuller. We closed the Hampton Club on April 1, 2009 and reopened October 10 of the same year with a new name The King and Prince Golf Course: Home of The Hampton Club. Upon being elected to Class A Membership in 1975, Rick has received various honors like East Chapter PGA Pro of the Year in 1998 and 2002 and served as Georgia PGA Board of Directors in 2001 and 2002.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         

  Robert Long Bio     Robert Long – First Assistant Golf Professional

PGA Professional

From an early age sports were a very important part of Robert’s life. Golf became a his passion, and he had the great fortune to walk the most hallowed grounds in the game. As a caddie at the Augusta National Golf Club, Robert spent 8 years learning the ins and outs of golf swings, and the intricacies of the game  Robert began his PGA work at Champions Retreat in Evans Georgia, as an assistant golf Professional.  From Augusta he moved to Sea Island Golf Club in 2013, where he furthered his experience to become a PGA Professional. During his tenure at Sea Island Golf Club he had the opportunity to learn from some of the game’s very best Instructor’s.  He comes to King and Prince Golf Course “Home of the Hampton Club” as the First Assistant Professional, where he is excited to help build and grow both the experiences, and opportunities, for the clubs members and guest.


Charmaine
Charmaine Mattox – Membership and Events Coordinator

Native of South Carolina, Charmaine began working at Pawtuckett Golf Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she worked in Customer Service from 1985 – 1989.  In May of 1990 Charmaine came to work at King and Prince Golf Course “Home of the Hampton Club.”  Charmaine started as the Merchandise Coordinator from 1990 until 2009, starting in 2009 until the present Charmaine has been the Membership and Event Coordinator.

 

Bruce Taylor – Director of OperationsBruce

Bruce began his career with MMI in 1989. Originally hired as a part time bellman, his old fashion work ethic and desire to succeed drove him to commit full time to MMI. He learned the business from the ground up, working his way through Bell Captain, Night Audit, Front Desk, Housekeeping and Banquets. In 1993 he was promoted to Clubhouse Manager at The Hampton Club. Bruce currently serves as (Clubhouse Manager) Director of Operations, The King and Golf Course Home of the Hampton Club.

 

Chuck Moore – Course ChuckpicSuperintendent

Chuck attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in Tifton, Georgia, for his golf turf degree. While at ABAC, he completed his fall internship with us before graduating with honors in 1995. After graduation, Chuck stayed on with us as a part of the golf maintenance crew in the winter of 1995. Chuck worked his way from a crew member to spray technician to assistant superintendent. He was our assistant superintendent for three years before he left for his first head superintendent job in Lake Park, Georgia, at the Francis Lake Golf and Country Club in 1999. After a year, Chuck returned and became our head superintendent in June of 2000. As our golf course superintendent, he has overseen our new pump house / wet well installation in 2001, our irrigation renovation in 2007, and our golf course renovation in 2009. Chuck is a class A member of the Georgia and National Superintendents Associations.

 

JB Workman – Course Assistant SuperintendentJBPic

JB is a native of Hartwell, Georgia where he grew up in the golfing industry. His father is a superintendent and his mother is the Executive Director of the Georgia GCSAA chapter. He received his BA degree in Biology from Emmanuel College and Masters Degree from the University of Georgia in Turfgrass Science. With his passion focused on golf course superintendent, he also worked on his PhD for 1.5 years at the University of Missouri.  JB is pleased to be working under Chuck Moore, Golf Course Superintendent where he is already serving the members and learning to manage the crew to maintain premier playing conditions at the Club.
